            KOM OMBO
THE GREAT TEMPLE OF  HARWAR AND SOBEK

Looking skyward in this magnificent complex one discovers remnants of the magnificent ceiling decorations, which are representations of royal Vultures that wear the crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt.

What is incredible is that the original colour pigment, after thousands of years of exposure, still remains intact. Note the beautiful cartouche that still bare most of the principal colours of the Ancient Egyptians’ palette.
