All the specialists concur that this site is of religious significance from the very fact that all the construction seems to be out of stone and not brick. And comparing this alleged period with some of the mastaba construction at Saqqarah gave weight to their sketchy hypothesis.
Very small statuettes have been unearthed - charms or amulets known as Wedjat were left behind to keep evil spirits at bay.
These are typically Egyptian and many of them are effigies of Horus. With their tiny Falcon like heads Horus is the destroyer of evil forces.
